AuGRES-SIMS - May 15, 2007 - AuGres-Sims got a pair of standout pitching performances from Robert Towery and Clark Larson on Tuesday to lead the Wolverines to a rainy 7-2 and 2-0 sweep of Mio AuSable.
Towery overcame some early wildness and worked out of a pair of bases-loaded jams to post the opening-game win, allowing four hits and striking out nine while walking five. His teammates helped out by staking him to a 5-1 lead after two innings.
Larson had two hits, including a double, scored twice and drove in two runs while Brandon Kelly had a single, double and scored twice to lead the offense.
Larson went on to throw a two-hit shutout in the second game, striking out 11 Thunderbolts. One hit, two walks and a hit batsmen helped account for the Wolverines' two runs, scored in the fourth inning.
Shane Lynch had two hits and Travis Lee had one. Lynch and Lee scored the Wolverines' only runs.
AGS improved to 12-7-1 (8-3-1 North Star League).
