AuGres-Sims 17-23, at Fairview 3-0

FAIRVIEW - Apr. 30, 2007 - AuGres-Sims turned in a pair of double-digit innings on Monday, one in each game of a 17-3, 23-0 sweep at Fairview in a North Star League baseball contest.

AGS closed out the first game with an 11-run fourth inning, then scored 12 runs in the second inning of the three-inning nightcap.

Isaiah Kauffman was the winning pitcher in the opener, allowing two hits and striking out five in three innings. Kauffman also had three hits, while Kyle Gingerich had a triple and two RBIs and Shane Lynch had a home run and two RBIs. Ray Lake added a double and drove in two runs. The Wolverines totaled 12 hits, with Fairview contributing nine errors.

Fairview also had nine errors in the second game, combining with 15 AGS hits. The Wolverines opened with a seven-run first inning and made it 19-0 with their dozen runs in the second.

Clark Larson pitched a three-inning one-hitter, striking out three.

Lynch had three hits and four RBIs; Tim McGuire had two doubles and four RBIs; Lake added a double, single and three RBIs; Gingerich had two hits and drove in two runs; and Alex Lutz had a triple and three RBIs in his varsity debut.

The Wolverines (4-4-1, 2-1-1 NSL) host Hale on Thursday.
