WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Apr. 19, 2007 - AuGres-Sims earned a sweep of Whittemore-Prescott in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday, 9-1 and 16-3.
AGS sophomore Kyle Gingerich scattered six hits in the opener, walking one and striking out seven as he allowed one unearned run.
The Wolverines got two hits apiece from Gingerich and Robert Towery. Clark Larson, Timmy McGuire and Ray Lake each drove in two runs, with Tuttle and Lake providing doubles. Shane Lynch and Art Griffore also stole two bases apiece.
Casey Braun started and took the loss for W-P, allowing two earned runs on four hits and six walks while striking out seven in four innings. Phil Cotoio and Mike Gusler each had two hits for the Cards. Cotoio's seventh-inning single drove in Mark Jakubik with W-P's only run.
AGS (2-3) scored seven runs in the opening inning of the nightcap to take control early. Griffore had three hits, including two doubles, scored three runs and had four RBIs to lead the Wolverines. Isaiah Kauffman had two hits and two RBIs, while Lake, Lynch, McGuire and Chris Yotkois each had two hits. Larson drew four walks and scored three runs.
Lake earned the victory in relief, picking up in the third inning for Towery.
Cotoio, Braun and Baron McBride each scored runs for W-P (4-2)
