Oscoda's Heather Patterson and the Owls had a strong serve-receive game at the W-P Invitational.

WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Oct. 13, 2007 - Oscoda split four matches in pool play at the Whittemore-Prescott Invitational on Saturday before falling to eventual tourney champ Standish-Sterling in the semifinal match.

The Owls topped Alcona 25-13, 25-14; lost to Hale 17-25, 20-25; lost to Standish-Sterling 17-25, 11-25; defeated Mio 25-23, 25-17 and fell in their second matchup with SSC 16-25, 19-25.

"We had a pretty good day," said Oscoda coach Laura Franklin. "We had a really good game against Mio. The girls were really working hard the whole time. They played well together."

The Owls (10-10-1) travel to Alcona for a non-league match on Wednesday.
