OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Sept. 19, 2007 - The volleyball season is still young, but after just two North East Michigan Conference matches the Ogemaw Heights Falcons are the lone team still unbeaten in league play.

The Falcons improved to 2-0 Wednesday with a 26-24, 25-25, 25-16 victory over John Glenn.

"The team did a fantastic job," said Falcon coach Diane Gillette. "We were down 19-24 in the first game and came back to take the win."

Jacie Lucas was on the spot in the late stages of that opening game, taking over service with no margin for error. In rally scoring rules, instituted three seasons ago, teams score points whether they are serving or not, so a bad serve would have handed Glenn the victory.

Lucas served the last seven points as the Falcons came back and seized the match's momentum for good. Glenn wasn't the same after the first game as Ogemaw rolled to 10 and nine-point wins.

"In the second and third games we came out fired up and never turned back to take the match victory," Gillette said. "This was a big win for us in conference."

Ogemaw stats: Lauren Gillette 15 assists, 4 kills; Jordan Foster 9 kills, 21 digs; Meaghan Tackebury 4 kills; Selina Tabayoyong 14 digs; Tiffany Rouse 12 digs; Jacie Lucas 8 digs, 2 kills.
