NEW LOTHROP - Aug. 30, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights' volleyball team knew it would have some tough competition at Thursday's New Lothrop Invitational.
The young Falcons, playing on short rest after competing the night before in a quad at Essexville Garber, showed flashes of their potential the next day at New Lothrop, but came home without a win despite staying close to three of the four teams they played in the tournament.
The Falcons lost to Cass City 17-25, 22-25; Mt. Morris 14-25, 11-25; Laingsburg 14-25, 21-25 and Marlette 9-25, 22-25.
"New Lothrop has always been a competitive tourney, but the team enjoys the strong competition," said OH coach Diane Gillette. "I tried several different line-ups to see what combinations would work.
"We are a young team and it will take while for us to adjust to the faster pace (than what most of the team is accustomed to from JV ball)," she added. "But I think we will do fine as the season progresses."
The Falcons (3-8) get a preview of some of their NEMC competition on Wednesday when they play in a non-league quad at Tawas Area against the Braves, Oscoda and Whittemore-Prescott.
Ogemaw stats: Jordan Foster 15 kills, 23 digs; Lauren Gillette 23 assists, 9 aces; Meaghan Tackebury 11 kills; Tiffany Rouse 41 digs.
