Ashley Lynch (14) tries to block Posen's Kori Latz during Tuesday's contest. |
AuGRES-SIMS - Sept. 25, 2007 - AuGres-Sims dropped three games to Posen on Tuesday as the Vikings took a 25-13, 25-20, 25-22 North Star League match on the Wolverines' home court, but AGS coach Jeri Christie said she was beginning to see some of the things she was hoping to from her team.
"We're getting so close," she said. "We'll keep working hard and doing our best and hope for things to turn around."
The Wolverines struggled through the first game as Posen was able to control the ball offensively and get it to front-liners Kori Latz and Elyse Perrault.
The Wolverines made a game of it in the second and third games and were able to set up Ashley Lynch for several kills. They also had an improved performance from the service line, finishing at 88 percent with Lydia Kauffman (13-of-14), Ashley Irwin (5-of-5), Kelsey Heinrich (4-of-4) and Angelina Bellissimo (9-of-10) at 90 percent or better.
"The girls have come a long way," Christie said. "They have good attitudes and are dedicated athletes. Slowly, they are becoming a team."
AGS travels to Mio on Thursday.
