BOYNE CITY - Nov. 3, 2007 - Hale's volleyball team advanced to the championship contest of Saturday's Class C District 91 tournament at Boyne City before falling to the host squad in the battle for the district title trophy.

The Eagles opened the day with a 25-14, 25-17, 25-7 sweep of Lincoln Alcona but were swept 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 by Boyne City.

"We were not on our game and Boyne was a great team," said Hale coach Mandy Allen. "I'm very proud of our team this year; it's been a great season."

Allen added that this year's team award winners included Tarra Caverly (team MVP, best offensive player, captain and Eagle award); Kassie Johnson (best defensive player) and Kelsey Reilly (most improved player).

The Eagles finished the season at 21-12 overall despite playing with just seven -- and sometimes six -- players all season and went 11-3 in North Star League play, good for second place.
