2006 Season: 6th place Independent Swim Conference (2-9 dual meet record)
Coach: Sheila Smiley
Returning Swimmers: Alissa Sue Clark, sr., (freestyle); Eden Collins, sr. (breast stroke, freestyle); Danielle Fallis, sr. (butterfly, freestyle); Megan Johnson, sr., (individual medley, freestyle, back stroke); Kelsi Rutherford, sr. (breast stroke, freestyle); Kami Shields, sr., (butterfly, back stroke, freestyle, individual medley); Kayla Brindley, jr. (distance, individual medley); Brigid Loar, jr. (200 and 500 freestyle); Laura Tolfree, so. (diving, freestyle); Melanie Tolfree (diving, freestyle); Kalena Franklin, so. (freestyle).
Outlook: The Falcons’ lineup will once again be shuffled as coach Sheila Smiley adjusts to the loss of six seniors that were all contributors. Though a number of her swimmers will be in different events than last season in order to fill holes, a lot will rest on this year’s half dozen seniors.
“The seniors want to have fun and do well as a team,” Smiley says.
Kami Shields and Megan Johnson will swim the most multi-faceted collection of events, with Shields featured in the butterfly, back stroke, free and IM and Johnson in the IM, free and back. Alissa Sue Clark (freestyle), Eden Collins (breast and free), Danielle Fallis (fly and free) and Kelsi Rutherford (breast and free) also return for their senior years, with Kayla Brindley and Brigid Loar returning as juniors. Sophomore divers Laura and Melanie Tolfree will look to build on their experience as freshmen , as will sophomore freestyler Kalena Franklin.
“I want the team to bond and to have fun,” Smiley says. “We all want to see improvement.”
