OSCODA - Sept. 26 - Hale ran to victory in both the girls and boys races at Oscoda's cross country invitational on Wednesday, an event that featured just three teams after a scheduling mix-up.
The Hale girls edged AuGres-Sims with 31 points to the Wolverines' 38, with Oscoda third at 61.
AuGres-Sims' Stephanie Wright won the race with a time of 21:02, giving the Wolverines' new program their first individual victory.
Hale's Ashley Malin (2nd, 22:17) and Kelsey Scott (3rd, 24:00) were followed by AuGres-Sims' Adrianne Swaffield (4th, 24:43), Oscoda's Maggie Ungurean (5th, 24:54), the Wolverines' Melissa Miller (6th, 25:43) and Hale's Danielle O'Dell (7th, 26:12).
Hale scored 24 points in the boys' race to Oscoda's 44 and AuGres-Sims' 64.
In the boys race, the Eagles' Eldon Barclay won the race in 17:40, followed by AuGres-Sims' A.J. Baker (17:50).
Hale's Ethan Parent (3rd, 19:27) and Nathan Turland (4th, 19:54) were followed by Oscoda's Jeremiah Johnston (5th, 20:02) and David Wood (6th, 20:05). Hale's Zach Putnam came in seventh (20:46).
