OSCODA - Dec. 12, 2005 - Whittemore-Prescott's volleyball team won two of three matches Monday at Oscoda to start its season off on a high note.
The Cards defeated Tawas Area 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, swept Oscoda 25-12, 25-18, and lost to Ogemaw Heights 26-24, 12-25, 21-25.
"I felt we started out stronger than we finished," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "Our serve reception and defense weakened as the night went on.
"Our offense looked awesome at times but also periodically fell apart. We need to work on consistency and staying up mentally."
Leading the Cards were Catherine Daniels with 24 points, six aces and 10 spike kills and seven blocks; Stephanie Aviles with 21 points, nine aces, 20 digs and 25 assists; Erin Grezeszak with 22 points and six aces; Erica Loomis with 20 spike kills; and Kristie Degesie with 16 digs.
The Cards (2-1) return to Oscoda Saturday for the Owls' volleyball invitational.;
