TAWAS AREA - Feb. 15, 2006 - A scheduling conflict hampered the Whittemore-Prescott volleyball team on Wednesday, as a regional FFA competition left the Cardinals without two starters. The Cards went on to fall to Tawas Area 16-25, 25-11, 22-25, 23-25 to drop into a fourth-place tie in the NEMC with the Braves.
"Chloe Moraitis was pulled up from the JV team to replace Catherine Daniels, and Katie Borushko played Erin Grezeszak's position in the front row," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "Both girls stepped up and played well, but we just did not have the same offensive options and blocking ability as before.
"It was very disappointing to lose and important league match under these circumstances."
Erica Loomis led the Cards (20-14-3) with two aces, 19 kills, and 15 digs; Stephanie Aviles had 17 assists and 18 digs; Moraitis had five kills, 13 points and two aces; Madie O'Farrell had nine points; Borushko had six digs, eight points and an ace; and Ashley Foco had four assists and three digs.
