WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Jan. 12, 2006 - Whittemore-Prescott finally got to play its first home volleyball match of the season Thursday, sweeping Standish-Sterling 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 to go 2-0 in North East Michigan Conference play.
"Overall I was pleased with our play," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "Our hitters played well at the net and we had some great saves on defense.
"Despite a six-point defict (12-6) in the second game the girls remained patient and came back for the win."
Leading the Cards (9-6-2 overall) were Catherine Daniels with 14 points, two aces and 10 spike kills; Erica Loomis with 17 spike kills, three aces and eight digs; Stephanie Aviles with 28 assists and eight points; and Erin Grezesak with seven digs, five spike kills and seven points.
