GLADWIN - Jan. 7, 2006 - The Whittemore-Prescott volleyball team reached the semifinals of the Gladwin Invitational on Saturday before bowing out with a loss to Ogemaw Heights.
The Cards went 2-1-1 in pool play, splitting with Ogemaw 25-21, 19-25, losing to Gladwin 23-25, 18-25, topping Oscoda 25-16, 25-10, and edging Tawas Area 25-20, 27-25.
In a semifinal rematch with Ogemaw, the Cards fell 27-25, 13-25, 7-15.
"We're starting to show some improvement, but we still have some weaknesses," said W-P coach Helen Loomis. "Serving errors and defensive mistakes contributed to our defeat against Gladwin.
