BULLOCK CREEK - Jan. 7, 2006 - Standish-Sterling tasted victory for the first time this year on Saturday at the Bullock Creek Invitational, winning twice and splitting once in five matches.
The Panthers swept Farwell 25-18, 25-9, edged Bullock Creek 25-23, 25-20 and split with Sanfoird-Meridian 12-25, 25-23. SSC dropped its last two matches, falling to Lake City 9-25, 21-25 and losing in a single-elimination rematch with Bullock Creek 7-25, 19-25.
"It was our (best) day of ball," said SSC coach Wendy Stein.
The Panthers were led by Rachel Hartwick with 18 kills, eight blocks, 12 aces and 13 digs; Meagan Goick with seven kills and three aces; Lyndsay Potts with six aces and 15 digs; Brittany Riopelle with 15 aces, 25 assists and 11 digs; Rebecca Beckers with five kills and 23 digs; and Kayla Pace with nine digs.
The Panthers (2-10-6) play at Whittemore-Prescott on Thursday.
