WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Feb. 4, 2006 - The Oscoda volleyball team played well at times, but the uneven play that has kept the Owls from cracking the victory column very often this season continued to be a factor at Saturday's Whittemore-Prescott Invitational.

The Owls dropped each of their four matches: 22-25, 11-25 to Mio AuSable, 20-25, 23-25 to Hale, 16-25, 14-25 to Standish-Sterling and 12-25, 20-25 to Sanford Meridian.

IT was prettymuch a typical day," said Oscoda coach Linda Hennigar. "We continued to play hot-and-cold. Overall I think our play has improved over the beginning of the season but we are not able to play consistently.

"We were comfortably ahead in all but three of the games we played Saturday but we just cannot finish it out. When things go wrong, every part of our game goes wrong."

Leading the Owls were Deanna Boughner with 11 kills, seven blocks, 23-of-23 serving and three aces; Emily Schwedler with five blocks and 10 digs; Kori Copus with with 20-of-22 serving and four aces; Jill Sanderson with 25 assists and 10 digs; Katie Kapus with five aces; Riley Shelton with 10 digs; and Margaret Negro with 12 kills and three blocks.

"Kori and Margaret had strong performances during the tournament," Hennigar said.

The Owls travel to John Glenn on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
