OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Feb. 1, 2006 - The Ogemaw Heights volleyball team might be the equal of John Glenn in what looks like a battle to the finish for NEMC bragging rights between the Falcons, Bobcats and Pinconning.
The Falcons went toe to toe with the Bobcats, but couldn't quite get the points they needed at the end of a tightly-contested match, losing 21-25, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25.
The loss was the first of the NEMC season for the Falcons, who now trail Pinny and Glenn by a game. The teams will meet again in the NEMC round-robin tourney on Feb. 24.
Leading the Falcons were Lauren Shepardson with 12 kills, two aces, 22 digs and two blocks; Michelle Berdan with nine kills; Jamie Lucas with three blocks and 15 digs; Sam Thorson with 20 digs; Holly Wangler with three aces and 10 assists; Ashley Killinger with two aces; Mallory Collins with two aces and Laura Budge with five assists.
The Falcons (22-8-3, 2-1 NEMC) return to NEMC action Wednesday at Whittemore-Prescott.
