HALE - Feb. 20, 2006 - A tough night from the service line proved costly for the Hale Eagles on Monday, who dropped a 25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 24-26, 14-16 North Star League volleyball contest to Mio AuSable.
The Eagles served just 79 percent as a team, which was enough to offset 10 aces from Tarra Caverly.
"Tarra did well at serving, and Elizabeth (Lerczak) served for 100 percent," said Hale coach Kristi Benedict. "However, when you give up 21 points in serving alone, its hard to win matches."
Lerczak and Caverly, who started the season on the JV squad, have proven to be strong additions.
"Elizabeth is working hard at the net and Tarra is doing very well in her role as setter / hitter," Benedict said. "Jess Beasinger also had some good digs in the back row.
"The team came out fairly strong in the first game, then lost their intensity and struggled from that point on."
Shannon Self had 13 kills and three blocks, while Amanda DeShano had 24 digs, Chelsea Sidebottom had 22 digs and four aces, Caverly added 17 assists and Beasinger had 16 digs.
Hale dropped to 12-10 (8-4 NSL) and hosts Posen on Thursday.
