MIO AuSABLE - Jan. 23, 2006 - AuGres-Sims took a big step in its hopes for a North Star League title by knocking off defending league champ Mio on Monday, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19.
"(It was) awesome volleyball," said AGS coach Jeri Christie. "The games were intense and so much fun to play, coach and watch. Both teams did a great job and it was a fight to the finish."
The Wolverines were led by Jodi Bilacic with five attacks, eight digs, 11-of-15 serving and four aces; Angela Porn with 13 attacks, four digs, 22-of-25 serving with 12 aces for 18 points; Jamie Taylor with 25 assists, 16-of-16 serving and two aces; Chelsie Irwin with 9-of-10 serving and three digs; and Jessica Stevenson with 9-of-10 serving and five points.
"We're getting better every game," said Christie, whose Wolverines improved to 6-4-2 (5-0 North Star League). "It's exciting to see this dedicated, hard-working group of girls achieve the success they are working so hard for."
