AuGRES-SIMS - Jan. 9, 2006 - AuGres-Sims never trailed in three games Monday as the Wolverines swept Arenac Eastern 25-14, 25-14, 25-13 in a North Star League volleyball match.

In a match that didn't feature many long volleys, the Wolverines used a combination of strong front line play from Sam Baron, Jodi Bilacic, Angela Porn, Jessica Stevenson and Amanda Nixon to keep control of the contest.

The Wolverines finished the first game with a 14-4 run, wrapped up the second game with an 8-1 run that included a pair of aces by Porn to finish it off; and broke out to a 21-6 lead in the third game with Porn serving three aces and Stevenson and Bilacic two aces apiece in the run.

"The girls played real well and kept their focus," said AGS coach Jeri Christie. "Our serving needs to get better - we have a team goal of 90 percent."

The Wolverines finished with 87 percent serve efficiency.

Porn finished with nine aces, seven attacks and two digs to lead the Wolverines, with Jamie Taylor adding 13 assists adn 15-of-16 serving, Toria Pendred 11-of-11 serving with five aces, Baron three attacks and Bilacic two attacks.

Arenac Eastern was led byHeather Vollmer with 15 assists, Nicole Daniels with nine assists, three blocks one kill, one ace and six saves; and Julia Altevers with four blocks.

AGS improved to 3-4-2 (2-0 NSL) while Eastern dropped to 0-4 (0-3).
