OSCODA - May 17, 2006 - The Oscoda softball team earned a non-conference sweep of Fairview on Thursday, defeating the Eagles 16-4 in the opener and 13-2 in the second game.

"Fairview is a young team like ours," said Oscoda coach Jamie Samotis. "It's nice to play teams equal to our experience level and see how we pan out.

"Our Oscoda girls played like seasoned ballplayers and are improving over the season. When they come out to play with their heads in the game they are an awesome team."

Dana Shugart was the winning pitcher in the second game, striking out five and walking five. The Owls had nine hits, including triples from David and Lindsey Walker and doubles by David and Spenceley. Justine Niemann led the team with three RBIs, with Walker adding two.
