STANDISH-STERLING - April 24, 2006 - Standish-Sterling pitchers Justin Migut and Keith Karbowski held Oscoda to one hit apiece Monday as the Panthers swept the Owls 7-0 and 10-0 in a North East Michigan Conference doubleheader.
Migut allowed one hit and three walks in seven innings, striking out eight. Karbowski had a home run and Joel LaPan had two hits, including a triple, to lead the Panther offense.
"It was great to get Migs back last weekend," said SSC coach Steve Stodolak. "His bat and pitching are a big part of our team. He is an extremely competitive person which is what our team needs on occasion."
Karbowski didn't walk a batter and struck out seven in his five inning outing. The Panthers put five runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to end the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
Migut, had two doubles and three RBIs to go with three stolen bases.
"Our hitting is starting to get there, too," Stodolak said "Karbo, Fritz and Migs are starting to hit the ball the way they are capable of. They are tough outs."
The Panthers improved to 8-4, 4-0 in NEMC play, while the Owls dropped to 5-9 (1-3).
