LINCOLN-ALCONA - April 19, 2006 - Travis Lee scattered five hits in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday and the AuGres-Sims Wolverines held off a sixth-inning rally to take a 5-4 victory at Lincoln-Alcona.
Alcona won the first game 7-6.
The Wolverines used a home run from Isaiah Kauffman and two hits by Nick Garvie to ignite their offense and overcome a third-inning, bases-clearing double by Alcona's Josh Maturen that gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead.
AGS scored three in the fifth inning to re-take the lead. Alcona scored one in the sixth to keep things interesting.
Alcona scored five runs in the second and two in the third to key their first-game victory over the Wolverines.
Geoffrey Farver took the loss on the mound for AGS. Shaun Yotkois had a hit and two RBIs.
The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Wolverines, who improved to 2-8 and host Oscoda on Thursday.
