AuGRES-SIMS - April 13, 2006 - The AuGres-Sims baseball team continued their run through their challenging non-conference season, falling Thursday to Beaverton 14-3 and 6-2.
The Beavers put the opener out of reach with a nine-run second inning and went on to belt 10 doubles out of their 16 hits.
The Wolverines bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit to lead 3-2 after one inning, but the Beavers' bats proved to be too much.
Geoffrey Farver had three hits for AGS, while Travis Lee had two hits, including a double. Farver and Lee each drove in a run for the Wolverines.
Jim Lake took the loss for AGS, while Ryan Nau was the winning pitcher for Beaverton.
Tom Largent led Beaverton with four hits.
The Wolverines, who committed four errors in the opener, didn't commit an error in the second game. Farver pitched a complete game for AGS, striking out six while allowing nine hits.
Clark Larson had a hit and drove in a run for the Wolverines.
Jake Oard and Luke Swanton combined to hurl a three-hitter for the Beavers (4-0).
In their four doubleheaders, the only school their own size AuGres-Sims has played was Bay City All Saints, the seventh-ranked Class D team in the state.
AGS (1-7) travels to Lincoln-Alcona on Thursday, April 20.
