Oscoda wins Ogemaw Heights swim invite

OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Sep. 30, 2006 - Oscoda won five events at the Ogemaw Heights Invitational on Saturday and set school diving record as the Owls outpointed the Falcons to win the four-team event.

The Owls finished with 492 team points, followed by the Falcons (430), Gaylord (284) and Alpena (144).

Erika Nolff, who two days earlier in the same pool missed the Owls' school record by less than a point, on Saturday surpassed the old mark with a score of 203.35.

Other Oscoda event-winners were Becca Businski in the 200-free (2:19.58); Alyssa Peters in the 100-butterfly (1:09.22); Megan Stamp in the 100-back (1:12.27); and the 400-free relay team of Katie Killingbeck, Businski, Jessica Migan and Stamp (4:22.43).

Autumn Gabourie was the only event winner for Ogemaw, in the 200-IM (2:43.67).

Other top-six individual finishers for the Owls included Migan (2nd, 2:20.24) and Brittany Buchmann in the 200-free (6th, 2:36.58); Brynne Raymond (4th, 2:58.11) and Brittany Kaiser (6th, 3:00.53) in the 200-IM; Peters (2nd, 28.13) in the 50-free; Kim Kasier (2nd, 113.70) and Ashley Rausch (3rd, 97.85) in diving; Lynch (2nd, 1:16.45) and Kacey Doherty (4th, 1:35.20) in the 100-fly; Stamp (2nd, 1:03.29) in the 100-free; MIgan (2nd, 6:17.33), Businski (3rd, 6:30.48) and Christina Delcourt (5th, 7:05.60) in the 500-free; Doherty (4th, 1:23.46) and Killingbeck (6th, 1:24.93) in the 100-back; Buchmann (5th, 1:27.30) and Brittany Kasier (6th, 1:27.31) in the 100-breast.

Top relay finishes for the Owls: Stamp, Peters, Lynch and Businski (2nd, 2:12.25), Killingbeck, Mariko Yamamoto, Raymond and Amelia Taylor (5th, 2:29.18) and Christina Delcourt, Brittany Kaiser, Ashley Rausch and Doherty (6th, 2:33.29) in the 200-medley relay; Buchmann, Raymond, Elisabeth Billiel and Migan (3rd, 2:03.12) and Lynch, Brittany Kaiser, Yamamoto and Christina Delcourt (6th, 2:12.86) in the 200-free relay; and Taylor, Billiel, Raymond, and Buchmann (2nd, 4:41.75), and Elena Wojcik, Rausch, Lynch and Yamamoto (5th, 5:24.67) in the 400-free relay.

Top individual finishers for the Falcons included Kayla Brindley (4th, 2:26.21) and Jordan Brindley (5th, 2:31.50) in the 200-free; Tori Rabidue (3rd, 2:55.24) and Amber Schmitt (5th, 2:58.19) in the 200-IM; Kate Friederichs (4th, 29.97), Stephanie Gildner (5th, 30.68) and Eden Collins (6th, 30.71) in the 50-free; Melanie Tolfree (5th, 85.35) and Laura Tolfree (6th, 72.85) in diving; Kayla Brindley (3rd, 1:27.47) and Danielle Fallis (6th, 1:45.92) in the 100-fly; Gabourie (3rd, 1:04.06) and Jordan Brindley (5th, 1:06.13) in the 100-free; Rabadue in the 500-free (6th, 7:11.26); Gildner in the 100-back (5th, 1:23.48); and Friederichs (2nd, 1:21.76), Kelsi Rutherford (3rd, 1:23.30) and Schmitt (4th, 1:25.76) in the 100-breast.
