OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Sep. 25, 2006 - For the second time in a week, Ogemaw Heights avenged an early-season soccer defeat.
The Falcons used goals from Peter Rudnik and Jackson Moore on Monday as the Falcons topped Standish-Sterling 2-0. SSC had taken a 3-1 victory in the first game this season between the two teams. Rudnik scored with 10 minutes in the first half, and Moore provided the insurance goal in the second half. Alex Meiser and Nick Rau earned assists.
Ogemaw outshot the Panthers 17-6, but had just a 6-3 edge in shots directly on goal.
"We had plenty of opportunities, but couldn't connect," said Falcon coach Jeff Young. "We were fortunate to get the win.
Kyle Dantzer got the shutout for the Falcons, who improved to 5-8 (4-4 NEMC). SSC dropped to 3-7 (2-6).
