OSCODA - Sep. 20, 2006 - Ogemaw Heights bounced back from an early deficit to avenge an early-season defeat to Oscoda, defeating the Owls 3-1 on Wednesday.
Mike Mertz put Oscoda up with a direct free kick in the third minute of the match, but the Falcons' Peter Rudnik knotted the score just two minutes later.
Nick Rau gave the Falcons the lead for good, and Rudnik added his second goal midway through the second half for insurance.
After the Falcons' second goal, Oscoda managed just one shot on goal after earning six in the first half.
"It was kind of deja vu, as far as being a little like last year," said Ogemaw coach Jeff Young. "We each won at home last year, and again this year.
"We controlled the game well, which is wonderful," he added. "But it won't do us much good if we can't score some more goal. This time, we did."
Kevin Ostrander had seven saves for the Owls, while John Jack had three steals and eight intercepts to lead the defense. The Owls (5-3-1, 4-3) have lost three straight after going unbeaten through their first six contests.
Kyle Dantzer had five saves for the Falcons.
