WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Aug. 31, 2006 - Whittemore-Prescott made it a long night for former Cardinal coach Kyle Tobin as the Cards blanked his Oscoda Owls 30-0 on Friday.
W-P racked up 318 rushing yards, including a career-high 139 yards on 19 carries by Jared Dietzel. Dietzel scored on an eight-yard run in the first half and caught an 11-yard pass from Tim Bradburn to give the Cards a 14-0 halftime lead.
"Jared had a great game for us," said W-P coach Chad Zeien. "He ran the ball hard and came up with a big reception when we really needed it."
The Cards tacked on a three-yard run by Buddy Bright and a 30-yarder from Adam Javor to cap the scoring.
Bryce Ankoviak and Brandon Kubik each had six tackles and three assists the Cards, who improved to 1-1.
W-P travels to Benzonia Benzie Central on Sept. 8. The Huskies are 0-2, but lost both of their games by 13-12 scores to highly-regarded Suttons Bay and Charlevoix.
Oscoda (0-2) opens North East Michigan Conference play on Friday at Ogemaw Heights (1-1).
