Outlook: The Braves lost half their offensive line to injury at last year’s pre-season scrimmage, so they are already ahead of last year’s pace. Despite returning just six seniors, several skill players made a mark on offense last year, including St. Aubin, McCoy, Verlac and Wheatley. Lack of size and an overall lack of experience stand in the way of putting last year’s winless mark in the rearview mirror.
“We don’t have a huge senior class numbers-wise,” says first-year coach Tim Webb, a high school all-American during his playing days at Whittemore-Prescott, which included the Cards’ first Silverdome appearance in 1995. “The team seems to be coming together as one unit. We’re a bit undersized, so we need to play smart and be tough.”
Webb says the Braves need to take the “one-game-at-a-time” approach to be successful.
“We are going to work extremely hard to be prepared for each game,” he says. “As far as goals for the season go, we are not talking or even thinking about anyone besides Harrison right now.” |
