TAWAS AREA - Oct. 11, 2006 - Tawas Area swept both the individual and team title as its home invitational on Wednesday, as Tyler Bischoff and Sandy Brandt led the Braves to team victories.
Brandt won the girls race with a time of 21:20, getting past Hale's Ashley Malin by 12 seconds.
Tawas finished with 36 points, with Standish-Sterling taking second with 46. Oscoda (65), Pinconning (103) and Hale (107) followed as 26 runners competed.
The Braves also had top-10 finishes from Ashton Cotter (4th, 23:27) and Abbie Hutchinson (6th, 24:04).
Standish-Sterling was led by Noelle Lentz (3rd, 22:44), Sarah Schwinck (8th, 24:54), Kit Lindhardt (9th, 25:03) and Heather Hergott (10th, 25:21).
Emily Schwedler (5th, 23:57) and Maggie Ungurean (7th, 24:29) led Oscoda, while Emily Podgorniak (11th, 25:28) led Pinconning. Hale's second finisher was Rachel Parent (21st, 29:13).
For the boys, Bischoff (17:25) won a two-way race with Standish-Sterling's Derek Welmers (17:48) for the top spot.
Tawas also had top-10 finishes from Guy Cotter (3rd, 19:35), Jacob Winn (7th, 20:11) and Jordan Smith (8th, 20:27).
Ryan Pickvet (5th, 19:53) and Jimmy Conway (10th, 20:41) also finished in the top 10 for Standish-Sterling. David Wood (4th, 19:51) led Oscoda; Ethan Parent (6th, 20:10) paced Hale and Justin Frey (9th, 20:33) was the top Pinconning finisher.
