WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Oct. 12, 2006 - Whittemore-Prescott put Ogemaw Heights out of the game in a hurry Thursday, blitzing the Falcons 21-4 right out of the gate on the way to a 72-37 victory.
Robin Sievers scored eight points in the first quarter and wreaked havoc on defense to ignite the Cardinals' early run.
"Robin played an outstanding game," said W-P coach Barb Janish. "She hustled and played very aggressive defense."
W-P placed five players in double figures, but for the second straight game was unable to hit a 3-point shot.
Catherine Daniels finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Kaylon Leslie added 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals; Julie Janish had 12 points, five assists and five rebounds; and Sievers added 10 points and Sharesse King had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Jamie Lucas led the Falcons (7-7, 3-3 NEMC) with 10 points, Colleen Wren added nine and Renee Wangler added seven.
The Cards (12-2, 6-0) travel to surprising Tawas (10-2, 5-1) on Tuesday, which pulled off a mild upset at Standish-Sterling and could tie W-P for the league's top spot with a win.
