Falcons hit free throws down stretch to win opener

OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Aug. 29, 2006 - Ogemaw Heights made coach Tim Hansen a winner in his debut as the Falcons' head coach by making its free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Gaylord, 33-27.

The Falcons led 22-19 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Blue Devils briefly took the lead before Ogemaw took it back at the line. Colleen Wren hit 4-of-6 free throws in the final period.

"The kids played great," Hansen said. "They worked hard and boxed out well, and then won it with their free throws down the stretch."

Jamie Lucas scored eight points and Renee Wangler added seven to pace the Falcons (1-0).
