2006 Tawas Area girls basketball preview

2005 Season: 10-11 (6-6 North East Michigan Conference)

Head Coach: Todd Kaems

Returning Players: Jenna Potts, Sr. (G); Katie LaHaye, So. (G/F); Kristen Whitney, Sr. (G); Quinn Knox, Sr. (F); Hope Kolts, Jr. (G).

Outlook: The Braves finished with an uncharacteristic 10-11 record last season, but that could change depending on how quickly a number of young players develop.

After upsetting Standish-Sterling in last year's regular-season finale, opponents should be concerned. Tawas returns point guard Jenna Potts, a third-year starter with a 3-point shooting touch, and junior Hope Kolts to the starting lineup, as well as part-time starter Katelyn LaHaye. Other returners are Kristen Whitney and Quinn Knox.

What has the NEMC concerned is the arrival at the varsity level of freshman Rachel Adaline, a mobile 6-2 center. Other newcomers who may have an affect on the Braves' fortunes are senior Lisa Newenhouse, juniors Michelle Revord, Jill Fountain and Courtney McKenzie and freshman Audrey Thoryk.
