WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - May 31, 2005 - Whittemore-Prescott survived a pre-district opening contest on Tuesday to advance to Saturday's semifinal against Tawas Area with a 3-0 victory over Lincoln-Alcona.

Theresa Janish (14-6) tossed a two-hitter and struck out 12, walking none. Kaylon Leslie was involved in all of the Cardinals' scoring, driving in two runs with a pair of doubles and scoring another run herself. Anna Gordon also had two hits.

The Cards (27-9) host Tawas at 11:30 am on Saturday. The winner plays for the district title immediately following the semifinal.
