WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - May 16, 2005 - Whittemore-Prescott won a pair of slugfests from Tawas Area on Monday in a pair of games that saw the two teams combine for 51 runs.
W-P won the opener 14-8 and outlasted the Braves 16-13 in the nightcap.
"It was a great day for thei hitter," said W-P coach Ed Mervyn. "Not so good for the pitcher."
IN the opener, the Cards used a nine-run fourth inning to break open a game that was tied by the deceptive score of 1-1 after three innings.
Tyler Leslie pitched a complete game for the win, allowing nine hits and two walks while striking out three.
Trent Lomason had three hits and an RBI, while Pete Jackson, Darrin Wilson, Derek Harrison, Don Hucul and Leslie each had two hits. Wilson had three RBI's.
In the second game, Leslie hit a three-run home run to highlight the the Cards' offensive onslaught. Harrison, Jakcon and Darrin Scoles each had two RBI's. Brent Wilmot picked up the victory, pitching the third, fourth and fifth innings in relief of Hucul.
The Cards improved to 3-6 in NEMC contests, while Tawas dropped to 3-7. |
