SUTTONS BAY - April 30, 2005 - The Tawas Area girls soccer team made the long trip to Suttons Bay on Saturday in search of the kind of competition they would see at the regional level of state tournament play next month.
The Braves found that kind of competition, losing a physical 4-1 match to the Norsemen. Kristine Jackson scored the Braves' lone goal, assisted by Kristin Whitney.
"Kristine played a great game," said Tawas coach Ken Cook. "This was a tough game and a very physical game. It was nice to see a freshman step up and compete at this level.
"Stephanie LaHaye did a great job filling in at goalkeeper for his at the end of the game. It is great to see those two play aggressive to the ball and with some passion.
"We need some more of that."
The Braves (5-4) return to NEMC play May 4 at Pinconning. |
