MIO AuSABLE - Feb. 26 2006 - The Whittemore-Prescott volleyball team saw its season come to a close Saturday after losing to the host Mio AuSable Thunderbolts in Class C district tournament play, 22-25, 17-25, 20-25. Earlier in the day, W-P topped Lincoln-Alcona 25-13, 25-13, 25-12.

"The Lady Cards played superb against Alcona, but did not play as well defensively against Mio," W-P coach Helen Loomis said. "I hate to see this season end. I loved working with this group of girls - they always practiced hard and everyone got along great."

Leading the Cards (25-12-5) were Kelli Barriger with 7 aces; Erica Loomis with 19 service points; Theresa Janish with 47 assists; Emily Hebert with 22 kills and 3 blocks; and Kelli Barriger with 18 digs.

Mio advanced to the district title game, where the Bolts lost in three games to Sanford-Meridian.
