Cards fall in hostile territory

LINCOLN-ALCONA - Feb. 10 2005 - The Whittemore-Prescott volleyball team dropped a five-game decision at Lincoln-Alcona on Thursday in which the Tigers' home-court advantage played a big part.

"Despite a rowdy and sometimes rude group of Alcona student spectators, the girls did awesome in Games 1 and 2," W-P coach Helen Loomis said of the Cards' 25-10, 25-17, 21-25, 20-25, 15-17 loss. "Serving errors and a loss of focus contributed to the next three losses.

"I was very disappointed we couldn't overcome the Alcona spectators or the inefficient officiating."

Leading W-P (23-8-5) were Jenelle Lauer with 4 aces; Kelli Barriger with 14 service points; Erica Loomis with 18 kills; and Emily Hebert with 13 digs and 4 blocks.
