Oscoda sweeps past Alcona

OSCODA - Feb. 16 2005 - The Oscoda volleyball squad took control early and maintained it through all three games in sweeping Lincoln-Alcona 25-10, 25-19, 25-15 on Wednesday.

The middle game was the closest contest, with the Owls pulling away from a narrow 20-18 lead with four straight service points frmo Laurie David, which gave Oscoda  a 24-18 advantage. After giving up the serve, the next side out gave the Owls the winning point.

"Our defense was a little sharper than it was this past weekend," Oscoda coach Linda Hennigar said. "(That) allowed us to mount a more aggressive attack. All players played well. Georgia Welch  had a good night at the net with 13 kills out of 15 attetmpts and recording 4 stuff blocks defensively."

Other team leaders for Oscoda (17-23-8) included Deanna Boughner with 4 kills, 4 aces and 19 service points; and Michelle Morse with 12 assists and 3 digs.
