TAWAS AREA - Feb. 9 2005 - Tawas Area won its first two games of its North East Michigan Conference match with Oscoda on Wednesday, only to see Oscoda come back and tie the match before the Braves won the fifth and final game, 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 24-26, 15-9. "The first two games of the match were all Tawas's," Oscoda coach Linda Hennigar said. "I'm not sure we were off the bus yet. Tawas completely controlled both games -- our defense was flat-footded, our serve receive gave up the quick point and our attack was almost non-existent. "We came back to life in the third game, finally getting our court play back together. In the fourth game, we managed to hold a slim lead throughout the game until falling behind 22-24. The score was tied at 24-24 before we captured the two-point win. "Tawas was ready to play the fifth and decisive, we were not -- they crused to an easy victory." Leading Oscoda (1-4 NEMC) was Georgia Welch with 11 total kills and 3 blocks; Deanna Boughner with 6 aces and 24 service points; Melissa Morse with 15 assists; and Heather Davis with 4 digs. |
