STANDISH-STERLING - Jan 24 2005 - The Oscoda volleyball team took third place at the Standish-Sterling Invitational on Saturday, finishing second in their pool and winning a consolation final rematch with the host Panthers.

The Owls topped Gladwin 25-22, 27-25, beat Houghton Lake 25-19, 25-15 and split with SSC 25-18, 16-25 in pool play. Oscoda fell to tourney champ Cadillac 17-25,11-25 in the semifinals and topped SSC 25-27, 25-16, 15-10 in the third-place game.

Leading the way for the Owls were Georgia Welch with 28 total kills and 9 blocks; Heather Davis with 10 aces and Melissa McCausey with 49 points served; Michelle Morse with 44 assists and Jill Sanderson with 31; and Morse with 21 digs.
