Wolverines advance to Mio semifinal
MIO AuSABLE – Jan. 29 2005 – The AuGres-Sims volleyball team turned in a successful effort at the Mio Invitational on Saturday, winning four matches and splitting one before falling to the host squad in the tournament semifinals.

AGS topped Mio 25-13, 25-14, beat Arenac Eastern 25-6, 25-19, defeated Lincoln-Alcona 25-17, 25-17, split with Whittemore-Prescott 18-25, 25-24, defeated Fairview 25-14, 25-19 and lost to Mio in the tourney semifinal 20-25, 14-25.

“This was a long, hard – but fun – day of good volleyball,” Wolverine coach Jeri Christie said. “I am extremely happy with our performance today. I think the girls surprised themselves at how well they did. We were 9-2 (in games) for the day – that's the best any AGS team has done.

“Of course, it was disappointing to lose to Mio in the semifinal game, but we can hold our heads high.”

Leading the Wolverines for the day were Jamie Taylor with 15 aces and 83 assists; Charisse Morris with 93 percent serve efficiency; Jodi Bilacic with 30 attacks; and Tasha Dewald with 23 digs.

The day's action improved the Wolverines' overall match record to 7-8-4.
